Time came for me to pay,
My dear friend a visit,
Frequent mingling, I’d say,
My busy life prohibits.
Her address was unclear,
in my hazy recollection,
Knowing she lived near,
I walked to an intersection.
Surprised to find the road,
I was on said Easy Street,
My affluence never showed,
But we did have lots to eat.
I recognized her street,
It was Help Me Alley,
She always seemed upbeat,
But her house stood in a valley.
With gasping breaths, I progressed,
For God said, “Love your neighbor,”
Even in times of need (I guess),
So I’ll share the fruit of my labor.
