But(t)s & Ewes (You’s) (poem by me)

But(t)s belong in the ashtray,
“But I only wanted to have fun,”
“But I am really a good person,”
That’s what people in hell say.

Ewes (You’s) belong to the Good Shepherd,
“You forgave all the sins of my life,”
“You sent Your Son as a sacrifice,”
That’s how those in heaven are accepted.

“’I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.'”—John 10:14-15

It can be tempting to justify ourselves when talking to God with “But I.” However, it is futile to justify ourselves at all. We only have hope in God’s mercy. Do you ever try to justify yourself before God?
