Stop Looking for Lightning Strikes (blog by me)

Some people misunderstand Christianity to be a faith without consequences since sins have been paid for with the blood of Jesus. It is true that Christians will not be punished eternally in hell for our wrongdoing, but we can still face God’s discipline for habitual sin committed with an unrepentant heart. Hebrews 12:6 tells us God disciplines those He loves.

If you are caught in a trap of habitual sin, should you be watching for a deadly lightning strike? No! Is not the One who gives the Holy Spirit full of the fruit of the Spirit? He is gentle, patient, kind, good, joyful, and full of love (see Galatians 5:22-23). Knowing the Biblical character of our God prevents us from projecting onto Him the imperfect personality of our earthly parents or any human for that matter. Since Christ satisfied the wrath of God (see Romans 5:9) for people who trust in Him, we do not experience God’s anger as it was portrayed in the Old Testament. To us, He is our shepherd.

Although God can rescue you from the lasting effects of another person’s sin, He may choose not to. There may be purpose in it. Pray for God to reveal the good things that has come from your suffering. Pray for a godly attitude toward your situations. Praise Him in your suffering, and He will make you emerge victorious. Trust in your heavenly Father’s good character to see you through to the end.

A Girl Like Me (poem by me)

You can’t impress a girl like me
by driving luxury cars,
dropping names,
or knowing pop stars.

Character is all that counts,
Can you keep a promise?
Do you have faith in God?
Can I trust you to be honest?

I will be to you like Ruth to Naomi
If you can win my love
Our bond will be snug
like a hand to a glove.

Here me when I announce
Character is all that counts.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. —Galatians 5:22-23

*I am happily married, but this poem kinda just came to me. I pray you Christian singles find someone with shining character and that you put your confidence in your own character (not worldly things). Stay blessed!
