A Love Song (poem by me)

When the dolphins leap,
And the fireflies glow,
When the cardinals tweet,
And the cool winds blow;
Our Father above is letting us know
To Him, we are all treasured and belong,
Blessed creation is His love song.

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” —Revelation 4:11

Unconditional Love (poem by me)

I am not in a
moral,
physical,
financial,
or spiritual
race with you.
I am just looking for a friend.
Will you accept my unconditional love?

I am not
criticizing,
judging,
condemning,
or despising you
in my head.
Will you accept my unconditional love?

I am only expressing the love
the Father has bestowed on me.
He taught me how to
love others unconditionally.
Will you accept His unconditional love?

“But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.”—Romans 5:8

A Father’s Love (poem by me)

Her father was a top architect,
Her mother a dear and loving housewife,
She was their one and only daughter
And she lived a privileged life.

Her dad studied the Barbie dream house
That she used to play with every day
And he built her a life-sized version
A gift for her 20th birthday.

An elevator instead of stairs,
An in-ground swimming pool in back,
A pink corvette parked in the driveway,
No trifling detail did it lack.

When she saw it, he thought she'd cry,
Hug him, kiss him, jump up and down,
Instead she rolled her eyes and gave a sigh
She said she'll sell it and buy a condo downtown.

Her mom said, "I wish our family was penniless.
Then you would see your father's love is priceless."

1Timothy 6:10 states, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced
themselves with many griefs."

Misconceptions (poem by me)

Girl
Head high
Fears nothing
For no one harms
Her more than herself
Mutilation
She is a
Cutter
Girl

Hurt
Thinking
Of the day
She lost control
Abused and misused
Who has the knife
Now, Daddy
Self harm
Hurt

God
Hoping
He is not
Like her father
Shred misconceptions
Accept and give
Forgiveness
Loving
God

And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. —Matthew 23:9

*This is NOT a biographical poem. Although my dad was not perfect, every memory I have of him is sweet—God rest his soul.

Heaven (poem by me)

Heaven is a real place,
With streets of gold,
And pearly gates.

A river flows from God’s throne,
Near it, is the tree of life,
There, the sun has never shone,
For God’s glory fills it with light.

I refuse to speak more,
Of heaven’s great splendor,
For its riches most assuredly,
Over time will tend to bore me.

See my Father is a gardener,
Who prunes off fruitless branches,
He’s also a pardoner,
Who gave me many chances.

Maybe that will help explain,
I’ll tell you without shame,
Heaven holds only one treasure,
For which my heart does pine,
That’s the gem called Immanuel,
The one and only true vine.

The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass. —Revelation 21:21

For Victims of Child Sex Abuse

jer

There are many types of sexual abuse and all are devastating. One of the most difficult types of sexual abuse occurs when the victim is a child. Oftentimes, the abuser takes advantage of a child’s trust, their desire to please, and their innocence. If you are the victim of sexual abuse, you know the pain is much deeper than a physical pain. Somehow the wounds made by sexual abuse scar the victims in ways that overflow into every aspect of their lives. Do not underestimate the damage done by sexual abuse.

Victims may suffer from any of the following: sleeplessness, nightmares, depression, a desire to cut or harm yourself, desires to numb yourself with alcohol and drugs, paralyzing fear, inability to trust or maintain good relationships, guilt, regret, shame, unhealthy sex relationships, avoiding life, overly concerned with control, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, stress, headaches…

If you are the victim of sexual abuse, God wants to help you restore your life. He wants to empower you to overcome the pain of your past and begin anew. The key to moving on is forgiveness. As hard as it may seem, you must forgive your abuser. I strongly recommend Christian counseling to sort through the emotions that are causing problems in your life. If you know someone who has been sexually abused, offer them lots of patience, understanding, and a listening ear. Urge them to get help from a professional so they can embrace all of the wonderful God has planned for their future.

Lord, I pray for you would open the door for the victims of sex abuse to get real help. I pray you would completely and totally heal them of all the emotional pain they experience. I pray for deliverance from all of the harmful ways in which they have learned to cope. Thank You, Lord, for your healing power and ability to restore. Thank You that You have placed so many caring people in the paths of Your people. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
