Questions for the Not-Yet-Christian (poem by me)

Do you enter a marriage with “I have an open mind”?
Don’t you instead begin it by excluding others?
Don’t you and your spouse sign on the dotted line?
When you commit to the Lord like you did your lovers?

You should be leaping fences—not sitting on them!
The double-minded are like a reed blowing in the wind,
Don’t you know His love is like a thousand gem?
Stop dragging your fee and let your new life begin!

Who has trusted in the Lord and regretted his way?
If you’re going to do it at all, do it full send,
Don’t waste another second of another day!
Whether you know it or not, Christ is your truest friend.

Why shouldn’t you commit your life to Him too?
Hasn’t He already laid down His life for you?

“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”—Matthew 7:8

Make Him Known (poem by me)

Guilt, guilt, like a scepter lying in wait,
Dread, dread, like a harbinger of things to come,
Heavy burden, like an atomic weight,
Fear, the steady beat of an ominous drum.

Cry out, you captives, ask for your release,
Throw off the chains of your prisoner’s cell,
Rise up and pray for God’s perfect peace,
Sing a song of praise to Immanuel.

Tell how God sewed up your broken heart,
How He set you free from your sinful ways,
How He changed your thoughts and gave you a new start,
That He’ll raise you up at the end of days.

The deserves your adoration,
Make Him known to every nation.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…”
—Isaiah 61:1

At the Door (poem by me)

Gaze not at wine while it is red,
You will only want more and more,
Have sparkling water in its stead,
Your sin is waiting at the door.

Avoid her; do not walk her way,
Your lust has chained you before,
Her batting lashes will betray,
Your sin is waiting at the door.

Harsh judgment lifts you up briefly,
Makes you forget your inner war,
Wash your hands of it completely,
Your sin is crouching at the door.

If you fail to heed my advice,
Don’t let guilt knock you to the floor,
God paid for your sin with a price,
Jesus is waiting at the door.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”—Revelation 3:20

When Temptation Comes (poem by me)

There was a crafty serpent in the garden,
Too clever to strike his direct target,
He aimed to tempt the wife of Adam,
Then Eve sowed the seed of the devil’s harvest.

Learn the lesson of good and faithful Job,
When his wife told him to curse God and die,
He remembered the grace God had bestowed,
He didn’t sin against the God Most High.

Satan opposed Jesus through Peter’s words,
He tempted the Lord to shrink from death,
Jesus wasn’t enticed to self-preserve,
He loved all mankind with His dying breath.

Beware! Temptation will always comes along,
Remember God’s love, stand firm, and stay strong.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”—1 Corinthans 10:13

A Prayer Sonnet for the Unsaved (by me)

Oh Gracious God, reveal yourself to our loved ones,
Bestow on them belief in Your Triune nature,
Cause them to confess sins with remorseful tongues,
Inspire them to trust in Your Son as their Savior.

Compel them to deny other religions,
Avoid false teaching and untrue prophecies,
Advise them to become baptized as Christians,
and invite the Holy Spirit in their bodies.

Let them hunger for Your Word and read it daily,
Kindle a desire to seek You and serve You,
Coach them to share the love of Christ bravely,
Lead them to a church that will see them through.

We exalt You, Father, above everything,
We praise You as our everlasting Lord and King!

*I pray in agreement for the salvation of your loved ones. In Christ’s Name, Amen!

A Song of Praise

God Almighty is Your Name
You are sovereign
Your promises never fail
We praise You for You are good and faithful
Lord, your deeds are wonderful
You deliver us from addictions,
and give health to those laid low
You have freed us from the Enemy
and his plans for our lives…
plans for death and destruction
but You give us fullness of life eternally
We drink from the River of Life and so do our children
You watch over us and protect us
Your way is perfect
and we take refuge in You, our Rock and our salvation
Be exalted, oh God, for You are holy and mighty
You are over all the living.
The whole earth is Yours and everyone in it.
You deliver us from pestilence and disease.
You free us from poverty and put food in our mouths
We give You praise and honor and glory forevermore
You created all things and by Your will they have their being
They all do Your bidding.
The evil are motivated by their own wickedness,
but Your children long to serve You,
Your will is done.
Let Your glory fill the whole earth
and be exalted over every living thing
Your Word has been since the beginning
and is now seated at Your right hand on the throne
Your Lamb was slain and is now lifted up
You breathed new life into Him
Though He was once dead,
now He lives to intercede for us and wears royal crowns,
He has a sword coming out of His mouth
Our future is Yours, our King
We will make You lord of our lives for eternity
We will see a new heaven and a new earth
by Your Spirit living in us.
We lift You high.

A New Beginning (poem by me)

The heaven and earth pass away,
Have no fear and do not dismay,
God created new ones, my friend,
He is the beginning and the end.

No more sun or moon to give light,
No more darkness, God’s love shines bright,
No more tears or need to pretend,
He is the beginning and the end.

We serve God with all our being,
The tree of life’s leaves brings healing,
It will happen, we don’t know when,
He is the beginning and the end.

Victory Awaits (poem by me)

On the beast, a woman sits,
She is glittering with gold,
Babylon the Great is her name,
Mother of Prostitutes is what she’s called,
She’s intoxicated with the blood of saints,
She leads and nations follow.

Babylon is the city the kings follow,
On seven hills, the city sits,
The kings wage war against the saints,
The Lamb triumphs in gold,
Lord of lords is what He’s called,
King of kings is His name.

Merchants weep at the sound of her name,
She’s afire with no fans who follow,
Doom and destruction is what she’s called,
Smoke and ash exist where she sits,
No more precious stones, no more gold,
Rejoice over her your prophets and saints.

“Hallelujah!” cries the multitude of saints,
Glory and power belong to His name
Elders fall down and worship God’s throne of gold,
The Lord God Almighty reigns and we follow,
At the wedding supper, His bride sits,
The Lamb weds those who are called.

The Word of God is what He’s called,
He brings justice for all the saints,
On a white horse, He sits,
Faithful and True is His name,
He leads; the armies of heaven follow,
He sits with many crowns of gold.

The kings were not saved by their gold,
“Feast, birds,” the angel called,
“Eat of the flesh of people who follow,
the beast and killed the saints,
Death to all who wore his name!
On His throne, our God sits.”

God rewards the saints and those that follow,
With crowns of gold and a powerful name,
Victory patiently sits, awaiting those who are called.

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath (poem by me)

The first angel’s bowl is poured,
and people break out in festering sores.
The second angel’s bowl is spilled,
and every aquatic animal is killed.
The third angel’s bowl is served,
rivers turn to blood as deserved.
The fourth angel’s bowl was discharged,
and the sun scorched skin and left it charred.
The fifth angel’s bowl was scattered,
the light fled and darkness gathered.
The sixth angel’s bowl is heaped,
and water made way for kings of the east.
The seventh angel’s bowl is emptied,
huge hailstones left bodies buried.
Come what may, hold onto your belief,
because the Son of Man comes like a thief.
