The Meaning of Life (poem by me)

Love is the true meaning of life
So do not let your heart delay,
Let it be evident in everything
you do and each word you say.

Love will never cease to fulfill you,
It will extend overseas like an embassy,
Like a chauffeur, hope will drive you,
Like a memoir, it will be your legacy.

That One Friend (poem by me)

You say you don't know God
Haven't seen or heard Him
But you have a good friend
And he's a faithful Christian.

Here's the honest truth,
if you'll take the time to hear it,
The awesomeness in your friend
is God's Holy Spirit.

In your mind you do not know Him,
But Your heart has grown to love Him,
And your friend who has been so true
is God's Spirit loving you. 

"...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, 
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..."—Galatians 5:22-23

Teenage Daughter (poem by me)

You say you’re in love,
He’s wise beyond his years,
You see it end in marriage,
I see it end in tears.

You drive to a higher place of learning,
With dreamy stars in your eyes,
But my stomach is churning,
As we say our teary goodbyes.

I am here to tell you
Life is full of heartache
You are here to remind me
It’s worth it for your sake.

“May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars
cut for the structure of a palace…” –Psalm 144:12

A Father’s Love (poem by me)

Her father was a top architect,
Her mother a dear and loving housewife,
She was their one and only daughter
And she lived a privileged life.

Her dad studied the Barbie dream house
That she used to play with every day
And he built her a life-sized version
A gift for her 20th birthday.

An elevator instead of stairs,
An in-ground swimming pool in back,
A pink corvette parked in the driveway,
No trifling detail did it lack.

When she saw it, he thought she'd cry,
Hug him, kiss him, jump up and down,
Instead she rolled her eyes and gave a sigh
She said she'll sell it and buy a condo downtown.

Her mom said, "I wish our family was penniless.
Then you would see your father's love is priceless."

1Timothy 6:10 states, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 
Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced 
themselves with many griefs."

Extraordinary Love (poem by me)

Is sugar cane less sweet when it grows in a field?
Is a cloud more majestic on a cloudy day?
Is a daisy less dainty in a pasture?

Nor are you less valued when there is no…
…spotlight…
…high five…
…congratulations…
…significant other…

God thinks you are extraordinary.
Today.
Just as you are.

BEAUTY fades in the blink of the eye,

Problems arise that RICHES can’t buy,

FAME is one flutter of a dove’s wings,

Wind blows away the POWER of kings,

Only LOVE imprints that which is everlasting.

Good Friday (poem by me)

My heart keeps repeating,
When I close my eyes,
I keep on seeing,
A man of sorrows,
Broken and bleeding.

I offer an embrace,
To lend some comfort,
As He hangs in disgrace,
And He looks up at me,
With blood on His face.

Can my faith really reach,
Through time to soothe Him,
As He hangs by a thief,
Though He is blameless,
And acquainted with grief.

He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. —Isaiah 53:3

Torn (sijo poem by me)

The woman who madly loves her spouse is torn by betrayal,
The newlywed couple who found true love is torn by death.
In the end, they find the only rock is our Savior Jesus.
