Make Him Known (poem by me)

Guilt, guilt, like a scepter lying in wait,
Dread, dread, like a harbinger of things to come,
Heavy burden, like an atomic weight,
Fear, the steady beat of an ominous drum.

Cry out, you captives, ask for your release,
Throw off the chains of your prisoner’s cell,
Rise up and pray for God’s perfect peace,
Sing a song of praise to Immanuel.

Tell how God sewed up your broken heart,
How He set you free from your sinful ways,
How He changed your thoughts and gave you a new start,
That He’ll raise you up at the end of days.

The Lord deserves your adoration,
Make Him known to every nation.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…”
—Isaiah 61:1

A Song of Praise

God Almighty is Your Name
You are sovereign
Your promises never fail
We praise You for You are good and faithful
Lord, your deeds are wonderful
You deliver us from addictions,
and give health to those laid low
You have freed us from the Enemy
and his plans for our lives…
plans for death and destruction
but You give us fullness of life eternally
We drink from the River of Life and so do our children
You watch over us and protect us
Your way is perfect
and we take refuge in You, our Rock and our salvation
Be exalted, oh God, for You are holy and mighty
You are over all the living.
The whole earth is Yours and everyone in it.
You deliver us from pestilence and disease.
You free us from poverty and put food in our mouths
We give You praise and honor and glory forevermore
You created all things and by Your will they have their being
They all do Your bidding.
The evil are motivated by their own wickedness,
but Your children long to serve You,
Your will is done.
Let Your glory fill the whole earth
and be exalted over every living thing
Your Word has been since the beginning
and is now seated at Your right hand on the throne
Your Lamb was slain and is now lifted up
You breathed new life into Him
Though He was once dead,
now He lives to intercede for us and wears royal crowns,
He has a sword coming out of His mouth
Our future is Yours, our King
We will make You lord of our lives for eternity
We will see a new heaven and a new earth
by Your Spirit living in us.
We lift You high.

Psalm to the Lord (by me)

Your ways are higher than my ways,
You are perfect, flawless,
Your deeds are worthy of honor & praise,
Be exalted over all worthless idols,
Let your glory spread like wildfire,
Your Name & Your Presence are more precious than gold to me,
You are awesome because You are good;
You are faithful when I am not;
You are merciful, giving much more grace than is deserved,
No one compares to You,
My heart sings a song for my Beloved;
Let it find You in perfect harmony, my Lord;
You are my God, You light my way, O Holy One,
I take refuge in You; You are my strength,
You are my Strong Tower,
You saved me from death—me and my loved ones,
When it was dark and death prepared to
strike like a python without warning,
When I had no hope or strength,
You were there with me in the dark night of my soul,
You held my hand for You care for the brokenhearted,
the downcast in soul,
You heard my prayer, You answered
swiftly like an eagle zeroing in on its prey,
You help me succeed in the public square,
You make onlookers wonder how;
I will tell them it’s You;
You are my strong arm,
The omnipotent One,
You are the key,
The omniscient,
You are my Father in heaven,
Creator of all the earth,
You are the Spirit inside me
purifying me of sin
Who made the universe?
You did, Mighty God.
Who made each one of us?
No one but You, Lord of all lords;
Who put the sun in the sky and
the moon to give its light at night?
The One who is Sovereign & All Powerful,
It is the Almighty God.

A Song of Thanks (poem by me)

Thank You, Lord, for being our Father,
Thank You, Lord, for being our God,
All of our work adds up to nothing,
Our deeds are filthy rags to You,
You graciously provide for us,
As Your Word promises You will do,
Let us touch the hem of Your garment,
Oh, to bow down at Your feet,
We will break the alabaster box,
Pour it on Your graceful head,
Let the anointing oil run down,
For You have been chosen,
And You have chosen us,
We are God’s children & His precious Heirs,
We do not need to worry about a thing.

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” —Psalm 42:5

Rebirth (poem by me)

Vitality is not vital to life,
Passionate desires seem to pass me by,
Go ahead, zip up my body bag,
My soulless body is as good as dead.

Oh God, breathe life into me again,
Prophesy to these dry bones of mine,
Animate my hibernating spirit,
Rain down the elusive glitter called joy.

I sing the song You put in my heart,
Laughter comes easy to me these days,
You carried my sorrow far, far away,
I will praise Your Name forevermore.

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.” —Psalm 40:3

Fill Our Nets (prayer)

(Sometimes we realize we need help rendering our hearts in prayer. Read on to pray with me for God to bless and anoint us.)

We sail on stormy seas

With waves of oppression, loneliness, and depression,

Crashing on us.

As we paddle through and give ourselves to You,

Bless us along with our families, churches, and friends.

According to Your great plans,

Make my desires reflect Yours.

Teach me to practice obedience,

Help me to pray with conviction,

So when we arrive on shore,

Our nets are full of sinners saved by grace,

So we may praise You

Joined in song—

The songs of nations for Your glory.

May it be so

Forever and ever.

In Christ’s Name,

Physical Healing

God’s original plan for man in the Garden of Eden was a life without sickness or disease. Sin brought these things into the world. The Old Testament records several healings brought about by God. Additionally, Jesus spent a great deal of time healing the sick. It’s pretty clear that God desires for us to walk around in healthy bodies.

All Bible-believing Christians should agree God is capable of healing individuals. If you believe God wants you well, nothing should stand in your way! Consider the following tools:

  • Prayer: Begin praying for yourself. James 5:14 also tells us to call on others for pray for physical healing. Prayer chains can be extremely effective.
  • Scripture repetition: Some Christians say they were healed by repeating daily healing Scriptures like: “…by his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
  • Gift of healing: Healing is listed as a spiritual gift in 1Cor. 12:9. Some famous televangelists claim to have this gift, but they are not the only ones. Ask around.
  • Laying on of hands: Having a stranger lay hands on you may feel strange, but Jesus did it and brought about healing (see Mark 6:5). Christians who want healing should invite God to heal through the hands of other Christians.
  • Listening to praise/worship music: Hospitalized people have credited praise and worship music for bringing healing to their bodies.

This list of ways God can bring about healing should not take the place of medical care. Doctors are not gods, but God can choose to heal you through a doctor’s care! Remember God loves you and wants to give you a healthy body.

Lord, I pray for the physical healing of Your people. Thank You that You want us to have life and have it to the fullest. We praise You that You are the Great Physician. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
