Meaningful Christmas (poem by me)

As I choose my Christmas tree,
I meditate on the Trinity
For the pine is only one,
but its points consist of three.

As I untangle a light string,
I meditate on this awesome thing:
The light of the world is Jesus,
my Messiah and my Holy King.

As I top the tree with a star,
I see three wisemen from afar,
behold Mary hushing her Son,
through a stable door left ajar.

Underneath, I stack wrapped presents,
like jars of gold, myrrh, and frankincense,
Bestowed on a sleeping baby
who knew not their treasured contents.

When my kids run down the stair,
Wrapping paper flies everywhere.
Our smiles stretch from ear to ear,
as I read the Bible from my chair.

The Faithful (poem + analysis by me)

We swim in the fountain spring,
Hear the harmonious choir sing,
His radiant face ne’er grows dim,
In the fountain spring, we swim.

We ascend to a mountain peak,
With His rod and His sheep,
Gravity seems to suspend,
To a mountain peak, we ascend.

We leap into a haystack,
Freefall and don’t look back,
Sit among tares and wheat,
Into a haystack, we leap.

ANALYSIS

This poem is a quatrain with some symbolism. Here it is again with the symbols decoded:

We swim in the fountain spring, [Believers drink from spring of eternal life]
Hear the harmonious choir sing, [united in joyful singing in fellowship]
His radiant face ne’er grows dim, [Light of Christ is eternal]
In the fountain spring, we swim.

We ascend to a mountain peak, [A holy life that brings us close to God]
With His rod and His sheep, [With the help of Christ & His body]
Gravity seems to suspend, [No fear of falling]
To a mountain peak, we ascend.

We leap into a haystack, [Confident and without fear]
Freefall and don’t look back, [never returning to our forgiven sins]
Sit among tares and wheat, [living in a world with unbelievers]
Into a haystack, we leap.
